My family and I went uptown to visit Speed Street. They close off a street in uptown Charlotte and showcase motorsports, stages for concerts, FREE goodies, Nascar show cars and simulators. It sounds pretty redneck, and yeah, it can be, but I was more appalled to see how many hootchies there were. I am serious, it was like a club/bar atmosphere and it wasn’t even dark yet. Everywhere I looked there were girls wearing very little. Some of them were really pretty, but hootchie. My kids were oblivious to it thanks to all the FREE samples of Combos, Carbonated Yogurt, mini candy bars and Capri Sun. Upon seeing all the said “hootchies”, I just kept thinking, “How sad.” For a woman/girl to feel like she has to dress like that for attention, sex, or even to just feel beautiful, is sad. You can be beautiful….even more so, and be considered sexy and still be dressed modestly. I just don’t understand the concept behind the hootchie clothes. When I look at a girl in hootchie clothes, I see insecurity, no self respect, and quite honestly sadness. She’s the girl all the guys want to “date”, but no guy wants to marry. It’s sad, and it makes me sad. *sigh*
All in all, it was fun to get everyone out of the house and we are going back this weekend…during the day so the kids can play with all the kiddie stuff. It was just too busy last night.
