In an earlier blog, I posted a couple of youtube videos about the song HEALER and the story behind it. As it turns out, it isn’t quite true. Mike, the pastor who wrote the song, claimed to have cancer and performed the song many times with an oxygen tube in is nose. Well, he came out with the truth that he isn’t suffering from a terminal illness and has been deceiving everyone, including his own congregation and possibly his family. You can read the article here. This absolutely makes my heart hurt. I don’t have the answers as to why these things happen. I do know that we are all human and are all subject to making mistakes…HUGE mistakes. My heart goes out to his friends, family, and anyone else who has been touched by his story and this song. It is still an amazing song and I do believe that this song will go on and give hope to all those who are hurting. Pray for those affected by this situation and for the Pastor, who are all definitely in need of healing.

That’s so sad.
You have your heart in the right place though. You didn’t cast judgement, only stated the facts and included that you are praying for those involved. God bless you!
I haven’t heard the song, but if what you say is true, about it inspiration, then so far so good. To me music is a great healer, and you cannot hide the truth and positivity of that alone, however, the bigger picture that I see behind it is that through all the falacy this man has put up, two things, and very important spiritual aspects remain. One: The power to move people through the lord never fails, and Two: (Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,) That we as humans are born to sin and ALL of us are imperfect, and its up to god to forgive us like only he can.
I have seen this video and heard the song…….I love Hillsong……….it is sad to hear he made it up…
Maybe not terminally ill but sick and still in need of prayer none-the-less. There was something that didn’t seem right about it anyway–he was never really winded enough for someone who requires oxygen bad enough to need it on stage. What a turd!
