My in-laws were in a motorcycle accident on Friday the 26th. An 88 yr old lady decided to make an illegal left turn and they hit her going about 45 mph. Thankfully they never ride without their helmets. The police and EMT’s said that the helmets saved their lives!! Sandy (MIL) flew off the side of the motorcycle and was knocked unconscious. She suffered a minor concussion, nasty road burn on her elbow, and is pretty bruised and banged up. She was treated and discharged from the hospital, but is still moving slowly and in a lot of pain. Dwayne (FIL) flew up over his winshield onto the windshied of the lady’s car and landed on the pavement. He was also knocked unconscious. He suffered a major concussion, ruptured his spleen, and has swelling of his face and a pretty impressive black eye. He was in ICU for a couple of days, but has been moved to a room in Operation Recovery. He still may have to have surgery on his spleen, but the Doctors are hoping that it will heal on it’s own. He isn’t allowed to move for fear of retearing his spleen, and they are elevating him 20 degrees a day to get him to sit up. There is some concern for his short term memory loss. We aren’t sure if it’s the morphine talking, or if it’s something we should really worry about. It has been a scary couple of days, but they are getting better and hopefully will heal quickly.
Please keep them in your prayers.

Dwayne tells everyone that Sandy hit him and that’s why he has his black eye!!
He also said that this was all okay, because he wanted a new bike anyways!!
{{ At least he still has his sense of humor!! }}

Yikes! Scary! I’ll keep them in my prayers!
Oh Kellie…how awful! I am very glad they wear helmets….we always do too when we ride our quads.
Take care!
